Welcome to brianegould.com. I designed this competency-based portfolio for the purpose of informing students, peers, educators and potential employers of my knowedge, skills, attitudes and expertise in the fields of adult education, instructional design, and instructional technology.
I am a passionate individual with a positive work ethic and enjoy sharing my self-knowledge and expertise with others. As an educator I am always seeking knowledge, practising new behaviours and building on interests and experiences. Currently, I work as an Instructional Technologist at the Centre for Teaching and Learning, Mohawk College and as Faculty for the Web Design & Development Program at the McMaster University Centre for Continuing Education. I am a Certified Personality Dimensions Facilitator and Certified Microsoft Office Specialist. I have experience teaching web design, music and computer application courses. As well, I am experienced in designing post-seconday courses and learning modules for on-line delivery. Academically, I have a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education (BEd ADED) from Brock University, a Multimedia Specialist Program Honours Diploma from Humber Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning, and an Applied Music Diploma from Mohawk College.
The content of this portfolio is an overview of my knowledge, skills, attitudes and experiences in the context of Adult Education. Artifacts are presented and catagorized in four main sections. Section one outlines my Teaching and Training experiences. Section two demonstrates my Skills related to teaching and learning. In section three I offer examples of my research and writing and finally my Philosophy of Teaching and Learning is briefly stated in the fourth section. Each artifact is supported with rationale as to why it is evidence for a particular knowledge, skill or attitude.
